What are you going to do once you retire ?….
Sure, the old cliché … sleep all day or at least get up late and do nothing…. Not quite… I guarantee that within a couple of weeks in your retirement you’ll be restless and eager to do something to keep you occupied. That’s where the lifestyle connotation comes in, and I have a few ideas…..
Music
If you enjoy music, you probably have some hidden ability to play an instrument of some sort. I found that the effort is well worthwhile and the benefits are undeniable. On My Music page, I share some of those experiences with you, check it out…
Golf
The nice thing about golf, it is a form of exercise and concentration that will improve your general well being regardless of your ability… The draw back is that it implies spending money. However, some golf courses have very affordable weekday fees and the “Pitch and Putt” (Par 3) courses are really cheap to play. The shorter ”Executive” courses are also a good option. And, don’t forget to demand the “Senior” discount !… Make your retirement profitable !…
The objective here is to have some form of activity that contributes to your well being and becomes part of a healthy lifestyle. On My Golf page, I discuss experiences I have had with the game. You quickly become passionate about the sport … you’ll see !…
There are of course many other pastimes (unintended pun !…) that you can envisage, including fishing, walking, crafting, painting or drawing, knitting etc…. If you enjoy any of these or other activities, please share your experiences with us, it is always interesting to know about those other options.
The other noble option is to join a charity group and do voluntary work either for the SPCA or some other meaningful organization. There is a great sense of purpose and satisfaction in doing work there, that’s for sure…

Fantastic Blog!
I believe retirement should be replaced with the word rejoicing.
I found this wonderful quote that I’d like to share which sums it up for me:
“Retirement is a time to make the inner journey and come face to face with your flaws, failures, prejudices, and all the factors that generate thoughts of unhappiness. Retirement is not a time to sleep, but a time to awaken to the beauty of the world around you and the joy that comes when you cast out all the negative elements that cause confusion and turmoil in your mind and allow serenity to prevail.— Howard Salzman
Makes one think?

I agree with what you are saying, I am only in my thirties, but I want to know when i retire – I have a whole new exciting life to look forward to.
I do not want to have to change my lifestyle comforts.
Retirement seems so far away, but in reality I know it is not too far off.
